Victor Marie Hugo was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers.

Interesting info:
1) For his book of poetry verses, Hugo was granted multiple gifts and a 3000 franc pension from King Louis XVIII.
2) In 1822, Hugo married his childhood sweetheart, Adele Foucher.
3) Hugo made love nine times with his wife on their wedding night.
4) Victor Hugo loved his wife, but that didn’t stop him from cheating on her constantly. The famous writer had many mistresses, one of which was his son’s wife.
5) The French novelist had a unique way of coping with a writer's block. He took all his clothes off, locked himself in a room with a pen and paper, and wrote.
6) His famous book Les Miserables received mixed reviews in the beginning: some were considering it a flop, some said Hugo was a madman, some praised as brilliant and remarkable.
